Meet Waikiki; A singer-songwriter from Maui, Hawaii. Her genre is mainstream, upbeat (Pop/Electronic/EDM). She’s also CEO of Mountain Music record label and Waikiki Entertainment, an event company. We interviewed Waikiki and here is what she had to say:
Hi Everyone, I’m Rosemary also known as Waikiki in the music industry. I was inspired to become a singer-songwriter because I’m naturally poetic & musical. I learned in order to have a lasting career, it would be necessary to become a recording artist. My musical journey all began in Maui, Hawaii after winning a local beauty pageant. I won a modeling contract to Japan and the Asian market was instrumental in promoting my career as an actress & singer because I could speak Japanese. From the efforts of my agency once a week in the Tea-Room of a 5-Star hotel in Tokyo, I would sing Jazz songs accompanied by a band. I write mainstream melodic, catchy & happy songs. My lyrics are about the passion of life; hoping to express joy, enlightenment & make a connection with the listener. The genre is Pop/Tropical House & EDM. To become a recording artist, I secured a song-writers contact with BMG Publishing in Sweden. BMG then secured me a record deal with EMI Warner-Chappell for my first release “Maui No Ka Oi.” I especially take inspiration from Kygo, Avicii & Lady Gaga. I feel emotionally connected with these artists when I listen to their music or view their music videos. I however admire many other artists as well from different genres such as classical, Jazz, Rock, etc. because I love music.
I’m happy to continue my journey creating music. Every time I release a single or perform in a concert, I create positive energy which is uplifting to music lovers. I generally generate high revenue for people affiliated with the music industry around my concept. I’ve done a lot with my career but I can do much more. I recently released my new single, “Catch A Wave with Me” — Pop/Tropical House. Good stats with Spotify & excellent worldwide radio airplay. I would like to experience what it’s like to have a huge fan following. I hope that I experience another top 40 worldwide hits, so music lovers can tune in and go on a journey with Waikiki to experience joy. I also hope my music inspires young talents and I enjoy when possible helping rising new talents.
